Panning for Gold

Did you know that if you hit a lightening bug with your car, it will continue to glow for a short period of time? Wes and I discovered this phenomenom when about the 549th bug splatted our windshield. This happened on the way home from our week long trip to Colorado. It was such a wonderful trip. Too short, really hot, but gave us lots of laughs.

Though Wes and I panned for gold in the mountains of the ol' mining town of Idaho Springs, we were unable to find enough to pay our way through retirement. And, though we hiked to the would-have-been vacation home of the president, we only found a foundational stone which welcomed the honored guest, but no home (the house was started in the 180os!) Not much of a welcome if you ask me.

My racing blood came out in our exciting afternoon at the track. (This in the afternoon, after rain, and two rounds of bowling, where the women stomped the guys!) Racing 50+ miles per hour in go carts is exciting. In our fine racing suits and helmets I only spun out three times (ok probably a little more than most, but those turns were just too tight). It was a good time with all of Wes' family.

The highlight of the week was watching Wes and his brother walk identically, play games and prove that they are in fact from the same family. I may not be the best rook player, but we did have lots of fun. And how can you not love a week that end with chocolate fondue?!
